Things To Do, Los Angeles Sports Fans

People know Los Angeles as the home of the movie industry, but there’s a lot more than that happening there these days. With the spring season about to kick off, if you’re looking for things to do, Los Angeles might just prove to be an unexpected sports mecca. Read on, as we offer some suggestions for what the avid sports fan should do when they’re visiting Southern California.

The recently-concluded NFL season saw the Philadelphia Eagles stun the favored Patriots, but it also saw not one, but two NFL franchises return to Los Angeles. The formerly Saint Louis Rams are now in LA, and the Chargers made the jump from San Diego. However, football season doesn’t start up again till September, so it makes more sense for the sports fanatic to head to the Staples Center, where they can check out either the Lakers or the Clippers. If you’re a fan of either one of these team, or if you just want to have a quintessential sports experience, we recommend staying at the JW Marriott Los Angeles LA Live. Its rooftop terrace looks out on the arena, and it has a fitness center and a spa onsite. As for the games, at this time of year, either one team or the other is bound to be in town, so pick the game you want, and get ready for some round ball. We suggest the games where these two rivals play each other if you want some added intensity.

If basketball isn’t your speed, then hockey might be the way to go, as the Los Angeles Kings have seen recent playoff success. If you want to see the Kings play, it’s the Staples Center again, as it is transformed from hardwood to ice when they lace up the skates. It’s always a fun atmosphere, as you can get there early and try to score some autographs, or if you wait around after the game, some of the players will toss pucks and souvenirs into the crowd. Plus, there’s always the chance that you’ll be able to catch one of those infamous brawls and see somebody lose a couple of teeth.

With so many professional sports franchises in the area, there’s something for the sports fan to do in LA at any time of year. The new baseball season is just a few weeks away, which means that the Dodgers and Angels will be back in action. So, paint your face, throw on your favorite jersey, and go score some tickets. Create some memories during this trip to Southern California that will last a lifetime.
